For years, Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) has looked at different ways to harness the power of our entire Movement to create greater awareness of local Clubs and enable them to raise more operating dollars at the same time. Instead of attempting to find a uniform program, BGCA has created a uniform strategy for annual campaigns. An annual campaign is a classic fundraising vehicle that designates a specified period of time to approach all donors for general operating support. This new strategy has been dubbed, It Just Takes One.

With 2007 coming to a close, we would like to provide you with an update on what the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities have accomplished over the year. More importantly we would like to thank you for your continuous generosity financially and as a board member. It is because of your support that we are able to reach the children who need us most.

Currently serving over 16,500 youth, the Clubs had an incredible year. Club youth have continued with programming that will allow them to realize their full potential. For many of our youth the Club is their second home. Club staff mentor these young people to become productive citizens and leader in our community.

The It Just Take One Campaign is imperative to support Club. The culmination of individual efforts on both levels will result in the Clubs’ programs making positive changes in kids’ lives.

It just takes one…………caring staff member to teach character and leadership lessons to help boys and girls become responsible citizens and experience the democratic process. Building character is our strongest strategy.

It just takes one………..caring mentor to help a child with education and career development. Encouraging youth to create aspirations for the future and providing them with opportunities for career exploration and educational enhancement is essential.

It just takes one………..caring professional to facilitate the achievement and maintenance of a healthy, active lifestyle. Programs we provide address issues such as resisting violence, drug abuse and premature sexual activity.

It just takes one………..caring volunteer to help youth enhance their self-expression, develop multicultural appreciation and gain creative skills.

It just takes one………..caring coach to help youth develop a fitness routine. An active lifestyle promotes positive use of leisure time, reduces stress, instills an appreciation for the environment and builds social skills.

It just takes one person to make the difference in the life of a child! It just takes one gift to open the door to a brighter tomorrow for even more of our children.
