Director of Club Guidance
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities, a youth serving agency in Minneapolis and St. Paul which provides programs in social development, athletics, education and the arts, seeks a Director of Club Guidance. This position reports to the Program Director and is located at the East Side Club.
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Coordinate the branch’s overall approach to provide guidance, youth development counseling, outreach, recognition, and reinforcement for Club members.  Provide administrative direction to help the Club advance guidance and discipline at this branch and organization wide.  Includes individual and group counseling, behavior management, volunteer recruitment and supervision, and community contact, i.e. parents, school, and other neighborhood organizations.  Programs are designed to be prevention based specific to Club member needs and to provide training and education to staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
·        Supervise the branch’s crisis intervention system and situations. 
·        Work with parents and volunteers to help youth address issues and accomplish goals.
·        Contribute to operational strategic planning, providing perspective on club programs and counseling services.
·        Identify and evaluate opportunities to improve through supervision; teen center programs, and counseling program.
·        Develop and coordinate intervention programs and group counseling sessions in delinquency prevention, substance abuse prevention, family crisis/life education, peer pressure, teen suicide, anger management, self esteem building and other needed programs.
·        Conduct on-going member interviews and charts/records, reviews and updates data to insure accuracy and completeness. 
·        Develop collaborative partnerships with other Clubs, consultants and vendors, as well as youth serving, professional and/or not-for-profit organizations, to maintain professional credibility within the community.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILL REQUIRED:
Four-year degree required, preferably in counseling or a related field. A knowledge of youth development and one to two years experience in counseling for your agency preferred, along with proven ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems. Candidate must possess strong administrative and organizational skills with thorough attention to detail and matters of confidentiality. This position requires excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills as well as comfort dealing with the general public.
 
SALARY:  Negotiable
HOURS:  School year: 1:00pm – 9:00pm, Summer and school release days: 11:00am – 7:00pm

Position Description

Job Title:                    Accounting Assistant

Reports to:                  Vice President of Finance

Overtime Classification:         Non-Exempt

Primary Responsibility:          This position is responsible to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities using sound fiscal management in all functions of accounts payable, general ledger and payroll and adhering to accounting principles when handling agency finances.

Key Results Areas:    Processes weekly accounts payable to ensure accurate recording of all expenses. (45%)

v        Process check requests, get proper approvals, input invoices, and      print checks to ensure proper recording of invoices.
v        Maintain vendor records in Blackbaud accounting system.
v        Create and maintain accounts payable files
v        Code expenses to correct grant when appropriate
v        Communicate regularly with agency directors and other staff on accounts payable matters.
v        Maintain good working relationships with agency vendors.

Assists in the month end process to ensure timely preparation of financial statements and grant reports (30%)

v      Prepares and enter monthly recurring journal entries (depreciation, insurance, payroll, etc)
v      Enter cash receipts into Blackbaud accounting system and reconcile between accounting and development
v      Reconcile general ledger accounts
v      Assistant with year-end audit

Process bi-weekly payroll to ensure accurate recording of hours worked and salary paid. (20%)

v      Verify timesheets for accuracy
v      Enter bi-weekly payroll into Paychex
v      Create personnel folders for new hires
v      Payroll filing (timesheets, payroll reports and personnel paperwork)
v      Create and run Report Writer reports

Assist the VP of Finance with other accounting duties as assigned. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications:  Education and experience

§         AA degree in Business Administration / Accounting or closely related field
§         Minimum 1 year experience in accounts payable, general ledger, and/or payroll (Paychex a plus)

Skills and Abilities

§         Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with special attention to Excel.
§         Basic knowledge of computerized accounting software with Blackbaud experience a plus
§         Detailed and quality orientated.
§         Strong customer service skills
§         Ability to apply analytical skill and incorporate results into problem solving.
§         Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written   communications on an interpersonal and/or group level.
§         Ability to model behavior consistent with the Boys and Girls Clubs mission.

Working Conditions:      

§         Ability to work in an environment which requires the use of a PC, telephone
§         10-key approximately 90% of the time
§         ability to perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands and wrists.
